2nd Annual Watershed Festival
August 24, 2008
The Moshannon Creek Watershed Coalition (MCWC) held their 2nd Annual free
Watershed Festival at Cold Stream Dam Recreation Area in Philipsburg.
The purpose of this festival was to raise public awareness
concerning Abandoned Mine Drainage (AMD) and its effects on
the Moshannon Creek watershed and to inform the public of
how they can help to restore the "Red Mo."
Informational displays by the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, and Clearfield and Centre County Conservation
Districts were on hand. Activities included a chili cook-off,
children's games and activities, a lesson in fishing, free mountain pies, and live Bluegrass music
provided by the Blue Shades.
All proceeds collected from the chili cook-off, new memberships,
and donations will help MCWC to further their goal of "Getting
the Red Out of the Red Moshannon." The group would like
to thank all of the local sponsors that donated money, goods
and services, or time to help make this event a reality.
