November 28, 2006
Meeting called to order at 7:05, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
In attendance were Art Beveridge, Dave Gustkey, Dave Cowfer, Ann
Donovan, Jen Demchak, and Bill Gongawere.
The agenda was approved as written.
The secretary was not present at this meeting, therefore,
no October minutes were read.
Treasurer’s Report: Dave stated that he has
reimbursements in for all four Growing Greener grants and has been
paying bills as they are submitted by NMBS. Dave requested a total
of volunteer hours on each grant for the necessary paperwork. The
general fund has a balance of $3867.39. The grant accounts have
the following balances:
a. Shimel Assessment $1210.00
b. MoCk Assessment 4106.00
c. TR23 Design 175.00
d. TR24 Design 772.50
Committees: The group again discussed the need for
a membership committee to track dues and recruit new members. The
possibility of changing the meeting structure was also discussed.
It was suggested that the board meet monthly, with quarterly informational/educational
meetings. This will be discussed after the holidays. It was also
stressed that we need to find someone willing to handle publicity
and write newspaper articles.
Old Business:
1. Growing Greener: Not yet announced.
2. Dominion Grant: Mike is finalizing design on the
placemats. A progress report needs to be submitted by December 6th.
3. League of Women Voters Grant: Mike is finalizing
the design on the insert. Both McDonald’s and Sheetz were
contacted for a coupon to track readers, but neither has responded.
Bill is going to follow up with McDonald’s.
4. Publicity: Jen suggested inviting the new Main
Street Manager to the next meeting. Her involvement may help spur
more community or business involvement.
New Business:
1. Shimel Run: Quarterly and monthly sampling is continuing. Volunteers
need to start sampling this stream to meet our match requirement.
2. Moshannon Creek: Quarterly and monthly sampling
is continuing. Volunteers are needed to help with the monthly sampling.
The next monthly sampling will be December 17th.
3. Blue Pipe: No update.
4. Other: The Clearfield County Planning Commission
sent a CD version of the comprehensive draft plan and was soliciting
comments. Informational material concerning the REAP program (nutrient
loading credits) was received and requested support letters from
the group.
New Memberships:
No new membership applications.
Next Meeting:
The December meeting was cancelled. The next meeting will be January
23rd, 2007 at 7:00 pm at the Rush Township building.
