Meeting Minutes

November 24, 2009

The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00 pm.

Adoption of the Agenda — Accepted with 4 additions.

Adoption of Minutes — October Minutes accepted as presented.

Treasurer’s Report — General Funds Balance: $11,857.99; Growing Greener Grants: TR36 $4,755.00, TR40 $3,631.00, Headwaters $60.50, AMD Mo Creek Phase II $12,633.83, MCFORE (New grant) $7,838.00.

Old Business:
Growing Greener Grants — Money possibly will be available for this new round.

Thank You letters and delivery of T-Shirts (Festival) — Will be delivered for Christmas

Letter to Junior Coal — It is in DEP’s hands. No news at this time.

Beaver Run — Grass is growing. Everyone got paid.

Trout Run — A Phase I Archeology Study is possibly needed

New Business:
Next Meeting Date — December or January? — Dick made a motion to cancel December meeting. Mike seconded, motion passed.

Wrap up of Sampling — Last weekend was the end of sampling. Only 2 teams sampled.

Election of Officers (Nominations) — Need to think about nominations. Send emails stating that we will be accepting nominations at January’s meeting and then have elections in February.

Fly Ash Meeting — DEP is having meetings regarding the use of coal ash. EPA is considering making coal ash a hazardous material. Pennsylvania uses coal ash to treat AMD.

MCWC Complaint — Art and Michelle called DEP regarding foam and cloudiness in Moshannon Creek in Osceola Mills. Need to sample the foam and go upstream to survey the stream. DEP has not come up with a definitive explanation.
