Minutes
October 24, 2006
Meeting called to order by Art Beveridge and the group was led in
the Pledge of Allegiance.
The adoption of agenda was approved.
The minutes from the September meeting were adopted
as amended.
Treasurer’s Report – No Treasurer or
report present. Art received a $1,250 check from the League of Women
Voters grant for newspaper inserts.
Check for $200.00 to be deposited into general account
for equipment purchases.
Old Business:
Growing Greener Grant – No news
Dominion/Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Grant –
Work on the placemats are in progress.
League of Women Voters Grant – The work on
the newspaper inserts are in progress (received $1,250 check).
New Business:
Shimel Run Update – Mike Yeager, attorney for landowner at
the head of Shimel Run, called Art about going on property and maybe
get a working relationship. Mr. Yeager is in favor of stripping
some areas.
Sampling is continuing on Shimel Run. Next collection is around
November 12.
Moshannon Creek Update – Art requested electronic
maps of area in order to enlarge and print, add notes, roads, sites,
etc.
First round of sampling completed.
Trout Run/Rt 970 Permit and Design Sites –
No news
Dates for Work Nights – Work nights will be
scheduled as needed
Sample Collection Dates – Next collection will
be on November 12, then every second Sunday of the month except
May 2007, which will be the first Sunday.
Billboard – Michael M. to add tagline “Working
to get the Red Out of the Red Moshannon”, find out about photos
on billboard – print color version for Art.
Placemat – Michael M. to add “Working…”
tagline, and copy 2 pages to give to Art.
Newspaper Insert – Kevin dropped off CD. Michael
Malicki to add photos and membership form. Michael will add 501(c)(3)
blurb and ask for donations.
League of Women Voters – New grant proposals
due.
Other – MCWC really needs to work on fundraising
efforts. Start with a letter to local businesses and stress 501(c)(3)
– tax deductible.
New Memberships:
No new membership applications.
