Meeting Minutes

September 25, 2007

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Art Beveridge and the group was led in the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 10 people in attendance.

Adoption of the Agenda — Accepted as written

Adoption of Minutes — August Minutes were accepted as written.

Treasurer’s Report — The Treasurer was not present.

Old Business:
Growing Greener Grant — No news. Art Beveridge passed around a letter that explained where the Growing Greener money comes from.

WREN Grant — Completed — Michael Malicki said he needs to get the final numbers from the Treasurer, David Gustkey, then do a final report to close out grant to get the remainder of the money.

Trout Run/Rt. 970 Permit & Design Sites — Kevin took a new job with another company, which does not affect the job completion.

Spring Creek Canyon — Had a forum, the first of several. Nothing new from the forum.

New Business:
Newsletter — Eric Shaw will spearhead the newsletter. Ann, Rachel, and Art will contribute. It was suggested that we mail copies to all members and others. It was also suggested that we talk to the local state representatives for some money for postage, printing, etc.

February Guest Speaker Meeting — Art wants to schedule a guest speaker, possibly a representative of the power plant to be built in Karthaus. Carl suggested maybe representatives from the ethanol plants. Art suggesting using the Hope Fire Company Hall in Philipsburg for the event.

New Grant Applications — No real developments at this time.

Black Moshannon Project — Art wants to organize a MCWC volunteer work party to accomplish a project at Black Moshannon and ideally get our name out there, maybe on a plaque. Art suggested that we have Chris Reese (DCNR at Black Moshannon) list a few projects that we could pick from.

Moshannon Creek Watershed Festival — August 24, 2008 — Art reserved August 24, 2008 for MCWC Watershed Festival at Cold Stream Dam Recreation Area. He only reserved the bandstand side so we could do it all in one area. We will need to get tents for the events.

Other items:

SMCRA Title IV — Meeting at Lock Haven University, Clearfield Campus – Tried to get most of money allotted for PA to be spent in Clearfield County – also to regulate how the money is spent – spend it properly to clean up the water.

October 11 Candidates Night — Centre County Commissioners at the new courthouse annex 7:30 PM in Bellefonte. MCWC is listed as a co-sponsor.

It was suggested that we sponsor an activity to promote us and other watershed groups. West Branch Susquehanna Restoration Initiative will coordinate. Becky Dunlap is the representative and she attended our meeting.

New Membership Application Time — No new applications.
