Meeting Minutes

August 28, 2007

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Art Beveridge and the group was led in the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 15 people in attendance.

Adoption of the Agenda — Accepted with one addition: Conservation Celebration

Adoption of Minutes — July Minutes were accepted as written.

Treasurer’s Report — $304 in Donations, $324 in memberships and additional donations at our festival, $660 taken in, $920 spent.
General Fund $1,743.13
Headwaters Grant $303.33
TR $2,300.00

Old Business:
Growing Greener Grant — No new developments.

WREN Grant — Completed — just need to make final report and send in.

Trout Run/Rt. 970 Permit & Design Sites — No new developments.

Spring Creek Canyon — Still no new news regarding who will get the land; Benner Township, PA Game Commission, PSU.

West Branch Days – August 11 & 12 – Art and Grady took our display and talked with the public.

Moshannon Creek Watershed Festival — A good time was had by all. Art suggested having a dog show. For future festivals – all agreed that all activities should be in the same area – not split up like it was this year.

Need to prepare a newspaper article as a follow-up. Rachel will start the article and email to collaborate. Need to pick a photo to go with the article.

Also discussed that October is budget time for local municipalities and we should send letters. We should also send “Thank You” letters to all partners in our WREN grant and enclose copies of the insert.

New Business:
Shimel Run Update — Final monthly samples were collected.

Moshannon Creek Update — Final monthly samples were collected.

Sample Collection Dates: August 11 & 12

New Grant Applications — No new grant applications at this time.

MCWC Billboard — Billboard is in place and looks great.

Conservation Celebration — Saturday, September 8 at Curwensville Lake.

Other items:

September 4 — meeting in Lock Haven about restoring West Branch of Susquehanna.

Need volunteers to attend a meeting at Lock Haven University at Clearfield to state why we need money to clean up the Red Moshannon. Carl will email the date.

Scott Conklin Meeting — Art met with him and had a good conversation. Scott wants to arrange a meeting between MCWC, DEP, politicians and discuss our wants and needs.

New Membership Application Time — There were no new applications.
