Meeting Minutes

August 25, 2009

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00 pm.

Adoption of the Agenda — No formal agenda presented.

Adoption of Minutes — The July minutes were accepted as written.

Treasurer’s Report — Treasurer not present. $126.26 in donations from the festival were collected, 17 new memberships were collected $190.00

Old Business:
Trout Run — Permit application needs notarized. Still awaiting permission slip from landowner. Need a place to put excess earth from construction. Need to send a follow-up request from MCWC to Cowfer regarding Trout Run, cc: Mike Smith, DEP and Camille George.

Beaver Run — The stream rehab project went well. Grass seed still needs planted. Need to send thank you letters to land owners and suppliers.

New Business:
Educational Workshop and Tour — Went well. Response was positive. It was suggested to make similar presentations to schools. West Branch has an active environmental curriculum and might be interested in some activities. Draft a thank you to Osceola Mills VFW, Susan and the Ladies Auxiliary for their help. Draft a thank you for the sponsors and contributors to go in the paper combined with the Watershed Festival.

Watershed Festival — Should have had more food vendors. Should have had a volunteer group photo. Turn up the volume for the people speaking. Should have had a list of MCWC volunteers and sampling teams. Should have had someone hauling water around in a wagon to distribute to the crowd. It was suggested that we give a donation to the pool. Also see if the Osceola Mills 150th committee could also donate to the pool. Ask if PA American could donate water to the pool to fill in the spring.

Spirit Day at Osceola Mills — September 12, 2009 — Suggested that we put on a PowerPoint presentation that runs by itself. Add chairs and close in the sides to darken the MCWC canopy. Suggested to have letters pre-printed to the local politicians for people to sign stating that we want support for our local streams.

AMD Workshop and Tour for Clearfield Creek — September 19, 2009

New Membership Application Time — No new members.
