Meeting Minutes

July 25, 2006
Meeting called to order by Art Beveridge and the group was led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The agenda was adopted with addition.

The minutes from the June meeting were not available at time of meeting.

Treasurer’s Report - None

Old Business:
Growing Greener - No news

Blue Pipe Discharge – Meeting attended by some members of MCWC, didn’t get a favorable grant rating. Possibility of getting property that has treatment ponds – coal company will sell/give it to us. Looking into legal ramifications. Maybe make it an educational site for kids and adults.

New Business:
Shimel Run – Received a letter from landowner stating no to go on their property. Jen will write a letter.

Moshannon Creek Headwaters – Art, Jen and Kevin met with Hartnet regarding prison labor. A positive response was received from DOC. Superintendent is all for it. Sampling plan is done. Pipes are being installed. 18 weirs need to be installed and built. We need to build an H notch weir for the prisoners to use as a template. Art will drop off the galvanized steel for the V notch weirs. Jen sampled some gob piles to ascertain BTU’s for possible burning at Cogen plant (Karthaus). Hope to start stream sampling in September – Need volunteers!

Trout Run/Rt 970 – Jen needs to see what the sewer line results will be.

Dates for work nights – Wednesday night (08/02) at Art’s for placemats, billboard, insert, weirs 6-9 PM.
Placemat pricing $500 – 10,000 on 60# back and 1 spot color.
Need logo for Western PA Conservancy and Dominion.

Triathlon – September 9, 2006 at 10:00 AM, Conservation Celebration 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. MCWC was invited to take a display.
