Meeting Minutes

July 22, 2008

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Art Beveridge and the group was led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Adoption of the Agenda — Accepted with four additions; New business 1, 2, 3 & 4.

Adoption of Minutes — May Minutes accepted with one correction. June Minutes were not available at this time.

Treasurer’s Report — General Fund $587, Community Grant $15,600, PAAW Grant $6,750 = $22,937. Growing Greener Accounts — Headwaters $4,606.36, Shimel Run $636, TR23 $4,885, TR24 $4,750. All invoices paid to date. We have reimbursement requisitions submitted, which include at least $500 of admin money that will go into the General Fund.

Old Business:
Growing Greener Grant — We are expecting a check.

Guest Speaker/Meeting — May not happen.

Billboard — Relocation — New photo was taken and sent to Saupp Signs. JR is moving the billboard.

Dominion Grant — Will have to postpone newsletter until after festival. We can include an article about the festival.

MC Assessment Town Meeting — August 24 — Jen will present at the Watershed Festival.

PA American Water Grant — Received check. Need to schedule a photo shoot promoting the check giving. It was suggested to schedule the shoot during the festival.

West Branch Community Days — August 9 & 10 — Art may take our display for that Saturday — August 9.

Festival Planning — August 24 — Blue Shades will be the musical act for the festival. Fish and Boat Commission will have presentation and activities. Ann will need fabric paint and t-shirts. Art to try to get t-shirts donated. Art lined up someone to cook mountain pies. Mike will discuss chili cook-off supplies with the Osceola Mills VFW. Rachel will bring stream table. Mike to ask Harpster Canopies if we could borrow 1 or 2 for the festival. Need to ask if CC Solid Waste Authority would be interested in bringing something. Business donation letters to be sent out ASAP. Art to ask Black Moshannon head person, Chris, to come again this year with fish/bug nets. Michelle to inquire if PA Game Commission will come with a display. Need to talk to Kerry Webster about getting a write-up in the Philipsburg Journal. Need to get the festival on the WPSU Folk Calendar. It was suggested to see if one of the FROGGY stations would be interested in sending the FROG or broadcasting live.

New Business:
PSU Professor — A PSU professor is doing research on AMD. Would like to have a test site here in Centre County. Ann will take her to meet Michelle to discuss a possible small site to use experimental methods to treat AMD.

Osceola Mills Spirit Days — $10 for a display space. September 13th around the park in Osceola Mills.

Houtzdale Days — Art took placemats to Houtzdale Fire Department to be used during Houtzdale Days.

Emigh Run Watershed — Emigh Run Watershed will be starting a new passive treatment system. 1st project on Emigh Run is being successful. Michelle has a press release and photos. Would to place on our website.

New Membership Application Time — No new memberships at this time.
