and the group was led in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Adoption of the Agenda — Accepted.
Adoption of Minutes — April Minutes were accepted
as written. There was not a meeting in May, and therefore, no minutes
were taken.
Treasurer’s Report:
Treasurer not present.
Old Business:
Growing Greener Grant — No news.
Dominion/Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Grant —
Art distributed placemats to Green Acres, Alley Popper, Osceola
Fire Company, American Diner, Pokey’s, The Oasis, Alice’s
Pub, Pumpkin House, Golden Cantina. We still have a lot to distribute.
WREN Grant — Missed the June 21 deadline. The
deadline was extended to July. Mike Malicki needs to get web stats
from Sean B.
Trout Run/Rt. 970 Permit & Design Sites —
No news.
WREN Orientation/Wrap-up Meeting June 21 & 22
— Ann, Rachael and Carl attended. Very informative presentation
about “Watershed Words” (words that the average public
can relate to).
New Business:
Shimel Run/Mo Creek Update — Numerous sample sites are dry.
It was discussed that maybe we eliminate some because dollars are
running low as well.
Sample Collection Dates: July 14th or 15th.
New Grant Applications — There were none.
Moshannon Creek Festival — August 26. We discussed
possible issues — Fish are extremely hard to come by and expensive
to do a derby, not enough volunteers. Rachael volunteered to do
fishing game and exhibit. Suggest contacting a fly-fishing organization
to possibly come to exhibit, show how to tie flies, fly cast. Grady’s
time was donated, he will be the coordinator. Mike Malicki and Traci
Watson will work on chili cook-off. We need to make Grady a MCWC
logo T-shirt. The PA Game Commission will attend. Rachael will check
to see if someone will take snakes, turtles, etc.
Spring Creek Canyon Issue — Land use for land
from Rockview Prison. Governor Rendell wants to give land management
to Benner Township. PSU wants to buy some of the land for agriculture
use. Some people think the PAGC should buy the land.
West Branch Community Days — August 11 &
12, the car show is on the 12th. Bill G. wants vendors — non-profits
would be charged $20 for a display. Art suggested that MCWC display
and that he could be there on the 11th, but need more volunteers.
New Membership Application Time — There were
no new applications.
Meeting adjourned at 8:30 PM
