June 23, 2009
The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00 pm.
Adoption of the Agenda — Agenda accepted with one addition.
Adoption of Minutes — The May minutes were accepted with one change.
Treasurer’s Report — General Fund $ 11,895.58, Headwaters $ 1560.50, TR 36 $ 4,755.00, TR 40 $ 3,631.00, AMD Mo Creek Phase II $ 4,553.83. MC FORE (New Grant) $7,838.00.
Old Business:
Growing Greener Grant — Grants due July 17, 2009.
WREN Grant — No funds were awarded to us.
Watershed Festival — Area has been selected for the festival at the Osceola Mills pool complex. Food vendors must be local groups. Generation Z (local rock band) and country/western band will play. The country/western band will cost $500. Letters were sent asking for funds to support the festival. Ann is trying to get funds through grants. Vance Dunbar from PA Fish and Boat will be bringing a display or activity. We will need a media blitz to promote the festival.
Educational Tour — August 21, 2009 – Ready to go. Need to check with Osceola Mills VFW to ensure all is ready – menu, times, etc. Need people to attend the tours.
Intern Discussion — Questions were sent back to the student. He did not reply.
Beaver Run Rehab — Need permit and one more landowner to “sign-on”. PA Fish and Boat Commission shocked part of the stream in Houtzdale and found 80 brook trout. All supplies have been donated. WalMart Distribution Center will supply some volunteers to help.
July 27 & 28 Wood Duck Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be doing stream restoration on Cold Stream near the soccer fields. Volunteers are needed.
New Business:
RSVP — Brian Querry, Retired Senior Volunteer Program gave a presentation about the program. Motion made by Carl to sign on with RSVP. Mike seconded. Motion passed. Need to email Brian Q. info about the Watershed Festival.
