Minutes
March 28, 2006
Meeting called to order by Art Beverage at 7:00 PM, followed by
the Pledge of Allegiance.
The agenda was adopted as is.
The minutes for February 2006 were not available
at this time, they will be provided at the April 25 meeting.
Treasurer’s Report – $2,345.39 in the
bank. We received a bill for liability insurance. We will switch
bank account to a branch in Osceola Mills and open new accounts
for grant dollars.
Art introduced Tim Beck (?sp), a member of the Philipsburg
Kiwanis Club and stated that he would like one of the members to
speak at their dinner this upcoming Thursday, which Sean volunteered
to do that.
Old Business:
Grant Status: We received a grant from Western Pennsylvania Conservancy
for $500 to make placemats for in restaurants. Michael Malicki will
design by the 27th of April for the grant presentation in Ligonier.
Restoration plan is complete.
Blue Pipe Discharge: Cappy Hill spoke about history
of discharge, etc. Being run by Marmon Company – permanent
active treatment system. Cappy signed a grant request for $1,409,495.00
for this project. Trout Unlimited will funnel/manage the dollars
for this project and will work with DEP closely to facilitate this
project. The design for the treatment system is in progress. The
project may start next summer. Cappy suggested visual inspections
on Moshannon Creek after or during high flow periods. High flow
discharges need to be documented.
Town Meeting: Art has flyers distributed. Art motioned
to donate $50 to fire hall. Carl seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Earth Day Trash Clean-Up April 22, 2006: Need volunteers.
New Sign: JR Saupp and Michael Malicki have generated
invoices for this to be sent to Rush Township.
New Business:
Wren Grant: Ann Donovan asked for $5,000 for inserts to be inserted
into local papers. $1,000 for design, $4,000 for costs. Will send
grant application.
Workshops: Art read announcements regarding upcoming
workshops March 29 and April, May 12 Penn State Conference Center.
New Memberships:
No new memberships at this time.
