Meeting Minutes

March 25, 2008

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Art Beveridge and the group was led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Adoption of the Agenda — Accepted with two additions.

Adoption of Minutes — February minutes accepted with one addition.

Treasurer’s Report — Treasurer not present.

Old Business:
Growing Greener Grant — Received $62,000 for assessment of Moshannon Creek from near Houtzdale to Osceola Mills where Trout Run enters.

Watershed Stewardship Meeting — PSU wanted info on “good streams” — awaiting decisions.

Guest Speaker/Meeting — A no go with the Karthaus people. Need to contact BioEnergy regarding their biofuel plant in Clearfield as being a guest speaker. Schedule for the June meeting.

Clean-up Date — April 19, 2008. John Glenn will provide 2 dumpsters. Decatur Township will supply a backhoe and operator. Need to figure out where to send the garbage. Clean up will start at 9:00 AM on Saturday, April 19. Need to send an email to everyone to elicit volunteers.

Dominion Grant — Dave needs to do the paperwork. Ann Donovan made a motion for MCWC to pay for gas to go get the grant funds. Mike Malicki seconded. Motion passed.

Triathlon — Need volunteers and/or participants for the event May 17th at Curwensville Lake. MCWC could take the display board.

New Business:
Election of Officers — All existing officers have been re-elected.

Cold Water Heritage Grant Report — Grant report by Donna Carnahan — conserve and protect cold water streams. Study was done on Moshannon Creek headwaters. Donna would like any comments in the next week or two.

Watershed Festival Donation Letter — We will repurpose the old letter. Need to come up with ideas for the festival.

Moshannon Creek Assessment Town Meeting — Meeting in Houtzdale to elicit volunteers for sampling. Jen suggested that we move the meeting to July or August.

New Grants — Jen is putting in for MC4. Would to put in for MC2 as well.

Political Report — Carl met with some politicians and discussed “set aside” money to make sure funds are spent correctly. Scott Conklin would like to do something to help keep Cold Stream Dam. Email and letter campaigns to the politicians will have an effect.

New Membership Application Time — No new members

The next regular meeting will be held April 22, 2008.
