Meeting Minutes

March 24, 2009

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance at 7:00 pm.

Adoption of the Agenda — Agenda accepted with four additions.

Adoption of Minutes — The February minutes were accepted as written.

Treasurer’s Report — One bill for NMBS. Bill for $120.00 for a half year of web hosting.

Old Business:
Growing Greener Grants — Contract to be signed by Art and submitted to DEP. Design work for MCFORE.

Grants Received - Obligations — All completed.

WREN Grant — Partner letter was signed by Philipsburg Borough. Several support letters were received. Several more support letters will be collected.

April Clean Up — April 25, 2009 Veolia will provide two dumpsters and will cover the tipping fees. Houtzdale Lions Club and Rails to Trails group will help with the clean up. 9:00 AM in Houtzdale. Another site possibility is along Coaldale Road and/or Sandy Ridge Summit.

Watershed Festival — August 23, 2009 1:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Partner with Osceola Mills 150th. Osceola Mills Borough OK’d use of facilities. Still need to check on fee for FREE POOL DAY. Planning to have Bluegrass band and a local young rock band. Need to book animals and attractions soon. Need to inquire about t-shirts and prizes to be supplied by sponsors.

Educational Tour — August 21, 2009 Gearhartville Sportsmen’s Club is to be booked for 7:00 AM – 5 or 6:00 PM. Need to come up with speakers and places for tour.

New Business:
Sampling Teams for New Assessment — We have teams.

Support Letters — Agreed by group to send letters to 2 politicians in support of the Karthaus power plant. Also send letter of support to Western PA Conservancy in support of their Moshannon Creek/Mosquito Creek Watershed Conservation Plan.

Introduction of New Watershed Specialist for Clearfield County — Kelly Williams is new Clearfield County Watershed Specialist.

Fish & Boat — Sites in Centre and Clearfield got funded for fish habitat construction. Local groups will need to supply volunteers, materials, etc.

May 16 Upper West Branch Triathlon — Need volunteers and/or competitors.

New Membership Application Time — No new member applications.

Next meeting — April 28 at 7:00 PM.
