Meeting Minutes

January 22, 2008

Meeting called to order at 7:00 PM by Art Beveridge and the group was led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Adoption of the Agenda — Accepted with two additions under New Business

Adoption of Minutes — October and November 2007 minutes were accepted as written

Treasurer’s Report — We have finally received reimbursements for all of our Growing Greener accounts. The bills from NMBS are paid up to date. There is another round of reimbursement requests to send to DEP.

Old Business:
Growing Greener Grant — No announcements yet

Trout Run/Rt. 970 Permit & Design Sites — Site is extremely wet and causing difficulties. Asked to reapply for more grant money. Michelle has the paperwork, Art and Dave need to sign.

February Guest Speaker/Meeting — Trying to get a speaker from River Hill to discuss the waste coal plant to be built in Karthaus. We will give the speaker until the end of the week to reply in order to have the speaker in February.

Newsletter — Need to create a newsletter

New Business:
New Grant Applications –— Trying to decide on which grants to apply for and where to apply the funds. Need to come up with a strategy to get some funding. We will try to apply for a grant for Beaver Run Assessment. We will also reapply for grants that we previously did not get. Mike Malicki made a motion for Art to sign grant applications when ready. Dave Gustkey seconded the motion. Motion was passed.

Inquiry from Chest Creek Watershed Allliance — Susan Snyder from Chest Creek Watershed Alliance spoke about a landfill company that wants their support (Alliance’s). She wanted our opinion and to hear our experience with a landfill company and an agreement.

Election of Officers/Constitution Amendment — Dave Gustkey made a motion to have nominations at February meeting if we don’t have a guest speaker — March if we do. Mike Malicki seconded the motion. Motion was passed. Rich Myers made a motion to move elections to March. Dave seconded. Motion was passed.

Billboard — Received a letter from PennDot stating that we have to remove the billboard. Mike will speak to JR Saupp about this issue.

Clean-up Day — April 19, 2008 — Clearwater Conservancy Clean-up Day. They would like to know if we have a site in mind to clean up.

Spikes Baseball Team — Spikes Baseball team is considering an environmental night in July. Ann will keep us posted. Maybe we would have a display.

New Membership Application TimeTime — 2 new members from last month

The next regular meeting will be held February 26, 2008.
