- Located in 8 townships of Centre and
Clearfield Counties
- Watershed is 288 square miles
- Stream length of 30 miles
- Watershed is primarily forest with an extensive
history of mining
- Entire length is polluted by Abandoned Mine
Drainage (AMD), except for extreme headwaters
- Deep mining began in the area in the early
1800’s, strip mining started in the 1940’s
- Contributes approximately 130,000 pounds per
day of acid to the West Branch of the Susquehanna
- Non-polluted streams in the watershed include
Black Moshannon Creek, Cold Stream, Mountain Branch, Black Bear
Run, Sixmile Run Creek, and headwaters of Trout Run
